Astrological Forecast | August 2024

I love taking a look at the astrological energy coming up at the beginning of each calendar month. It helps me become aware of what energy I have to work with over the coming weeks without getting too far ahead of myself. This is probably the Virgo in me wanting to be prepared. This blog post will go over what we have to look forward to astrologically during the month of August collectively. For a more personal reading, you’ll need to have your astrological chart handy and make note of where these events are occurring in your own natal chart. Not sure how to do that? I can always help! DM me on Instagram and I’d be happy to discuss doing a mini-reading for you. Note: I will never reach out to you to offer a reading. If you get random DMs from anyone offering to do any type of spiritual readings, they are scams.

Here’s the short and condensed version: August seems to be a month of slowing down so we can get our life in order. After the New Moon in Leo in the beginning of the month, which brings a creative energy for us to set intentions surrounding our true desires and live authentically, we experience Mercury Retrograde in Virgo (and then Leo) and Venus entering Virgo. Both of these planets will bring the focus to details and organization, asking us to make sure we’re taking care of what we need to so we can be as efficient as possible. When Mercury dips back into Leo, the focus will move more to those visions we created at the New Moon and determining strategies to go after our desires. The Full Moon in Aquarius later in the month is also a big one, bringing with it a lot of tension while Mercury is still retrograde. There’s nothing to fear during this month, but be prepared to analyze and revise where needed.

Leo Season in Full Swing

Dates: July 22 – August 22
Key Themes: Creativity, Confidence, Leadership

The Sun is in Leo for most of August, a time for us to experience Leo’s vibrant, expressive, and dynamic energy. While in Leo season, embrace your inner creativity and shine brightly. Leo encourages us to take bold steps, showcase our talents, and lead with confidence. It’s an excellent opportunity to focus on self-expression and pursue passions that bring joy and fulfillment. If you’re undergoing a healing journey, this is also a great time to get in touch with your inner child – Leo is considered “the child” of the zodiac after all!

Tips for Navigating Leo Season:

  • Engage in creative projects or hobbies. Is there something you’ve wanted to create or try? If so, now is the time to do so.
  • Practice putting yourself out there, whether through public speaking, presentations, or social events.
  • Cultivate self-love and self-care practices. Leo’s biggest lesson is learning to love ourselves first, faults and all, so this month is a great time to show yourself some self-love

New Moon in Leo

Dates: August 3-5, 2024 (peak occurring on Sunday, August 4 at 7:12am EST)

Key Themes: New Beginnings, Intention Setting, Self-Expression

The New Moon in Leo on August 4 amplifies Leo energy, making it an ideal time to set intentions related to personal growth and creative endeavors. New Moons signify new beginnings, and this one marks a time of renewal, creativity, and bold self-expression. And with Jupiter trining this moon, this is a powerful moment to reflect on what we truly desire and take the first steps toward manifesting them. What will you do to shine your brightest, embrace your individuality, and lead with courage and compassion?

Tips for the New Moon in Leo:

  • Write down your intentions surrounding how you can shine your brightest, embrace your individuality, and lead with courage and compassion.
  • Create a vision board to visualize your dreams!
  • Meditate on self-empowerment and confidence.

Mercury goes Retrograde

Dates: August 5-29, 2024

Key Themes: Communication, Details, Organization

Ah yes, another Mercury Retrograde. But don’t fear! We deal with Mercury going retrograde at least 3x each year, so this isn’t anything new. Depending on where it effects your own personal chart will determine whether you feel this retrograde strongly or not. Regardless, when Mercury goes retrograde in the sign of Virgo it is encouraging us to slow down and analyze our life. Mercury naturally rules Virgo so it will emphasize the importance of paying attention to details and getting your life in order. It will then dip back into Leo around mid-August (around August 14-16 to be more exact). This will be a great time to re-visit that vision board you made at the New Moon in Leo and find ways to share your creative gifts with the world. Overall, use these few weeks with Mercury Retrograde to review, revise, and refine.

Tips for Mercury Retrograde:

  • First, don’t stop living life just because Mercury is retrograde. Traditional astrologers will tell you to avoid signing contracts or starting any projects during this time period. In modern times, that just isn’t feasible and I don’t think we should put our life on pause for three weeks just because of a planet. If anything, just take extra time to read the fine print. Get all the details before making decisions, and think twice before speaking.
  • Organize your space and declutter, both internally and externally. A cluttered space is a cluttered mind, so take some time to de-clutter your home or office space. Organize your phone or desktop. Or, better yet, organize all those thoughts swirling around in your mind. Put them down on paper and come back to them after Mercury Rx is over.
  • Reflect on your daily routines and make improvements. Are your daily habits and routines serving your highest good? This time period may bring to light the ones that aren’t so pay attention and adjust accordingly.
  • Be patient with delays and miscommunications. They are bound to happen, so just take a deep breath when they do and ask yourself what the lesson is. Any mishap is the Universe’s way of teaching you something. It’s up to you to decipher what it is.

Venus in Virgo

Dates: August 6-29, 2024

Key Themes: Practical Love & Relationships, Detailed Aesthetics, Values on Health & Wellness

The planet of love, beauty, and harmony moves into the sign of practical Virgo on August 6. Venus will move fairly quickly through Virgo, leaving it for Libra on August 30. While in Virgo, Venus brings our focus to the practical aspects of our relationships, details in our aesthetics, and emphasizing self-care. You may find yourself interested in ways to enrich your life and boost your well-being, improving your environment, or taking care of the practical matters with your relationships. If you’re single, this emphasis could be improving practical matters related to yourself.

Tips for Venus in Virgo:

  • It’s not the most romantic thing to do, but take time to deal with the adulting matters in your relationship(s). This might look like dealing with finances, organizing the house, determining a chores list (Virgo loves lists!), or anything else that requires you to put your adulting hat on. Definitely not the spice one looks for in a relationship (unless you have your natal Venus in Virgo, in which case, these things could you turn you on!), but something that all relationships have to deal with at a certain point in time. If you’re single, take time to deal with these matters for yourself. With Mercury in retrograde during this time, you could really help yourself get organized!
  • Pay attention to the details of your aesthetics. This could involve your home, your style, or even your office space. How can you spruce things up? Where can you organize and declutter?
  • Self-care is priority during this time. What can you do to enhance your health and wellbeing? You may want to look into holistic health and healing, improving your nutrition, or prioritizing moving your body.

Full Moon in Aquarius

Dates: August 18-19, 2024 (peak on August 19 at 2:25pm EST)

Key Themes: Innovation, Rebellion, Forward-Thinking

The Full Moon in Aquarius occurs August 18-19 with the peak occurring on August 19 at 2:25pm EST. Aquarius is known for its forward-thinking, humanitarian, and unconventional nature, and this Full Moon encourages us to think outside the box, embrace change, and connect with our communities. It’s a time for breakthroughs, both personally and collectively, and for celebrating our individuality within the collective. However, we also have some additional tension and pressure happening from other planets. On the one-hand, we may feel this tension between stability and change, individuality and the collective, and tradition and innovation. On the other hand, we could feel this dynamic interplay of thought, communication, and action, with a need to distinguish between reality and illusion. The release for these tensions comes through the energies of Scorpio and Sagittarius – allowing ourselves the space to peel back the layers and feel, while also remaining optimistic along the way.

Tips for the Full Moon in Aquarius:

  • Be open to new ideas while maintaining a solid foundation
  • Find a balance between your personal desires and collective good – how can you both contribute to the collective and honor your own personal needs?
  • Stay flexible and adaptable
  • Celebrate your uniqueness. Embrace your unique qualities and express yourself without fear of judgement or rejection

Virgo Season Begins

Dates: August 23-September 22, 2024

Key Themes: Self Improvement & Personal Growth, Organization & Efficiency, Health & Wellness, Service & Contribution

The Sun enters Virgo on August 23 and will be there through September 22. During Virgo Season, we enter a period characterized by practicality, meticulousness, and a focus on self-improvement. Virgo, an Earth sign ruled by Mercury, is associated with precision, health, and service. This season invites us to refine our routines, pay attention to details, and cultivate a sense of order and efficiency in our lives.

Tips for Virgo Season:

  • How can you improve yourself? Virgos naturally look for ways to improve, sometimes to a fault. However, during Virgo season, we can all take note from our fellow Virgos and determine where we can improve ourselves and our lives. Take time to reflect on where you’re at. Where in your life needs a little fine tuning? What isn’t exactly “right” yet? And what are some steps you can start to take to improve?
  • The whole “organizing” theme keeps coming up, but if you haven’t organized anything yet, now is the time to do so. Virgo loves efficiency, and you can’t be efficient unless you’re organized. Clutter, whether internally or externally, slows you down. What can you do to clean your internal and external spaces?
  • Virgo rules health and wellness, so no better time than to look at your health and wellness routines. What’s going well and what’s not going well in that area? Use this time to start eating healthier, move your body more, get enough sleep, and take time to meditate. This is also a good time to get some of those doctors visits out of the way to make sure your body is in good working order.
  • Virgo is also known for its commitment to service. Notice if you feel a stronger urge to want to help others beyond just yourself. Acts of service and kindness can bring a sense of fulfillment unlike any other. You can do this by volunteering for causes you care about, offering assistance to friends and family, sharing your skills and knowledge to help benefit others, or engaging in other activities that help your community.

Mercury goes Direct

Date: August 29, 2024

Key Themes: Restored Communication & Clarity, Forward Movement, Improved Experiences

When Mercury stations direct on August 29, there will undoubtedly be a sense of relief. Again, it’s not that anything “bad” happens during Mercury retrograde, but it can feel like things move slower and you get stopped by mishaps. When Mercury goes direct, you’ll start to feel a sense of clarity and forward movement once again. However, I urge you to take time to reflect on your Mercury Retrograde experience. What came up over those few weeks for you? What can you learn from it?

Venus in Libra

Dates: August 30-September 23, 2024

Key Themes: Relationships, Balance, Beauty, Fairness

Venus enters Libra on August 30 (my birthday!). Libra is one of the signs Venus rules, so it feels at home here. During its almost month-long trip through Libra, we’ll notice a focus on relationships, balance, and aesthetics, encouraging us to seek harmony in our interactions and surroundings.

Tips for Venus in Libra:

  • Prioritize fairness, mutual respect, and understanding in your relationships, romantic and platonic. Libra is all about fairness – it values peace and harmony above all else. Communicate openly and honestly, try to find compromises in conflicts, and show appreciation and affection regularly.
  • You may find yourself a little more social during this time. Attend social gatherings or events, reach out to friends and family, or join clubs or groups that interest you.
  • Take care of your beauty and aesthetics. Go for a shopping spree to update your wardrobe, get a haircut, spruce up your home, or anything else that brings some beauty into your life.
